Whilst running support sessions for the Advanced 3D Engines and Scripting module at Staffs Uni, I challenged myself to follow the assignment that my students were set, in the same timeframe they were given.
This project both kept my skills in check as well as gave me a project that I could demo techniques in whilst offering support.
The project contains: a player character which is able to take damage as well as carry a weapon, multiple weapon types with unique firing behaviours, multiple game modes (including Deathmatch and Payload), AI characters and splitscreen multiplayer functionality.
I also wanted to test my skills as an artist, so the characters that the player controls was completely modelled by myself with a variety of parts that could also be switched out and customised. I also created the ship environment from scratch.
